Working with Schools: A development day for Creative and Cultural Providers 15th March 2017 – 1-3pm Arts Gateway MK, Third Floor, Norfolk House, Silbury Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 2AH A development day for creative professionals who would like to explore the possibility of working with schools and other youth-focused agencies. Participants are welcomed from a wide range of creative and cultural industries and it is suitable for freelancers and organisations. Participants will; • Hear from established Milton Keynes artist Jane Charles about her work with schools • Explore the Culture Challenge with Kayte Judge and the practical ways this free service, run in conjunction with ArtsGateway MK and MK Council can help you reach schools, including some of the funding available • See case studies…

MK celebrates its diverse creativity at Festival of Nations 2016

Milton Keynes Arts Week was launched with a fanfare on Sunday (24th), as Arts Central welcomed the world through its creative doors at Norfolk House and Clyde House.  Festival of Nations 2016 is the third time the parent charity Arts Gateway MK has put on Festival of Nations, which brings together the creative heritage of all of MK`s diverse communities. Highlight of the Festival of Nations opening was the performance by Blabul Al Sharq, made up of the family of Belal Alasal, refugees recently arrived from Damascus.  Belal and his three small children were so touched by their welcome to Milton Keynes that they jumped at the opportunity to say thank you. Transformation – a textiles exhibition with extras

  Mix3d stitch a textile trio based in Milton Keynes have curated an exhibition of Transformed textiles and invited other inspired artists to contribute. The Cornerstone gallery is downstairs and upstairs at the Cornerstone church at 300 Saxon Gate West Exhibition open for viewing during usual opening times. MK Arts Week 24th Sept – 2nd Oct

Welcome to Milton Keynes Arts Week. This inaugural event, which we hope will become an annual fixture in the regional arts calendar, is all  about reaching into the communities within Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas to call to all visual artists to showcase the range and depth of talent in this area. The nine days of this show have a wider remit than only Open Studios; there are pop-up exhibitions and arts trails to be devised, and spaces that are conjured from the artists’ imaginations into real experiences for everyone to enjoy which will   be listed on this site.  There is already a full programme of performances in place. These are very exciting as they mix up the arts and challenge us on several levels. But…

Creative Arts Showcase – Market place stalls available – 30th June

This event replaces our quarterly Mingles.  Stalls are now available to hire for Arts & Crafts sellers, Food and Vendors, and anyone wishing to display their work or promote their event in a lively networking evening. 30th June – 5-9pm Free to Residents, £5 to Members and £20 to Non-Members. Call out for art work at the Cornerstone Gallery CMK

Arts Central’s new exhbition space is the 1st floor cloisters of the Cornerstone Church in CMK. This is the first Open call out for work for the exhibition in December in celebration of Advent and the light from the darkness of Winter. This is not a religious exhibition, in the depths of Winter we all need the light and warmth of colour and this is a celebration, culminating in Advent. We are looking for work in all mediums, there is curved wall space and space in the windows for 3d and hanging work.
