The Culture Challenge

The Culture Challenge aims to increase the number of young people accessing, enjoying and making great art and culture by providing clear information about local cultural provision. It serves to strengthen the cultural landscape by building today’s audiences and tomorrow’s creative people. The Culture Challenge encourages schools to engage with the wealth of cultural activity n their local area, urges cultural providers to be ready for young people and applauds children and young people who want to explore art and culture for themselves.

The Culture Challenge website is used by education providers, young people & their parents to find cultural opportunities in their area. This was created by and has been successfully piloted in the Bedford area by Bedford Creative Arts. In partnership with  and support from Milton Keynes Council, the website is being enhanced and extended to the MK area this year. This work is being coordinated by Arts Gateway MK.

To help launch the website in Milton Keynes, Culture vouchers are being made available to local schools to spend this year on artists listed on the website.

To be listed, providers are asked to confirm that they have public liability insurance, have considered safeguarding and can provide references from schools and or others who can attest to their suitability to work with young people.

If you are interested in being listed, contact joan.stewart@artsgatewaymk.org.uk for more information and a listing form.
