One World Club November 2016

Sunday 27th November

St. Andrews Church

Great Linford,

Doors open 6.00pm for food by renowned chef, Yaw Asiyama, chat and excited atmosphere as we prepare to open the show.

Topping the bill is energetic drum group, Inta-Africa. If they don’t get you on the floor there must be Araldite on your seat!

Crossroots, my 5 piece, has become even more multicultural than before, our roots now stretching to Ghanian-Jamaican, French-Canadian, Polish-Jewish and English. With Arabic music thrown in to balance things up, and American dance music because we like to party, watch out for an all-round World Music and dance experience.

The Chinese Fusion Dancers are a display of colour and tradition that make me appreciate how lucky we are to live in a place as culturally diverse as Milton Keynes.

Bilal is a singer who has managed to escape the ravages of Syria. At this stage, he does not speak English, but music is a global language; we’re privileged to be able to bring to the stage a talented young man whose skill would have remained hidden had he not had the courage to get away from the ravages of war in his homeland.

Rachel Lawrence is one of the most exciting Bollywood dancers we’ve ever seen at One World Club. As well as Performing at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, she’s taught Bollywood dancing to University students. Her act is just spectacular beyond words! I’m too excited already! Calm down.

As if that wasn’t international enough, a taste of Greek culture comes from Leon Silver, who sings in Greek, paying homage to his late wife and adopted country, Cyprus.

London street rapper Bennie Silver always gets the audience in fits of laughter as he makes it up on the spot. Who knows how he makes it rhyme, but it comes out right every time!

It’ll be a special night out in a magical venue whilst we continue our search for a permanent home. It’s been a while since the last show, and could be a while till the next one, so come and share our party while we’re lucky enough to have one.
