Summer fun with new free smartphone app created especially for Discovering MK

Discovering MK is a new smartphone app launching on 31st July 2017. Celebrating MK’s 50th birthday year, the app encourages residents and visitors to get out and explore Milton Keynes, discovering the places and spaces that make this city unique. Inspired by the Pokémon Go craze, the Discovering MK app reveals an interactive trail of 50 hidden gems around the city. At each location along the trail, you can unlock information about the landmark, challenge yourself, your family and friends to a fun mini quiz and upload a ‘selfie’ to show you are there. MK Arts Week 30th Sept – 8th Oct – Register Now!

This year, MK Arts Week is happening again, with a range of performances, workshops and talks. We kick off with Festival of Nations on the 30th of September! Role Details: Title Communications and Publicity Assistant, AGMK and CARCMK Description Arts Gateway MK need someone who is good with words and loves to persuade. We need to get our messages and requests out to an ever widening audience, beyond our core community of artists and creatives. We wish to promote MK as a creative place, and encourage anyone and everyone to support a wider range of creative activity. Already very active on Facebook, we’d like to deepen our presence in social media, particularly Twitter and new arrivals like MeetUp. We want to keep spreading our word across local print media, radio and TV, to new audiences, including corporate. We need to orchestrate our messages to our members and supporters. Bucks Open Studios at the Cornerstone gallery

June 10th – 25th For the 2nd year 11 artists have taken over the Cornerstone Church and filled it with art, stitch, colour and creativity. Textiles from Yvonne Elliott, Hilary Grayson, Jane Charles and Alison Pearson. Batik from Jane Sharp. Drawing from Nicola Saunderson. Stained glass by Elaine Marsh. Paintings from Catherine Smith, Tracey Mason and Sheila Ward. Lino prints from Helen Taylor. Artists will be in residence on Saturdays and Sundays and Wednesday afternoon into the evening, pop along to say hello, or just call into the church when you are passing. It’s a beautiful space. Call Out for artists, dancers and community groups for Festival of Giants

As part of the official #MK50 Birthday Celebrations, MÓTUS is curating performance events for Festive Road’s ‘Festival of Giants’ – a big, free, outdoor arts festival in Campbell Park on Sunday 25th June 2017. We are on the look out for artists, performers, acoustic musicians, dancers and community groups to be part of this MK50 celebratory event. Arts In the Park Festival – July 1st and 2nd

Milton Keynes explores Migration in Art in the Park Festival   Art in the Park Festival, organised by Milton Keynes Islamic Arts Heritage and Culture (MKIAC) returns to Campbell Park for its eighth successive year with the theme of Migration from Saturday 1st July (1-7pm) to Sunday 2nd July (1-6pm).   This celebratory multicultural festival has grown to attract over 11,000 people annually and provides a platform for local emerging talent to share a stage alongside internationally respected musicians, dancers, visual artists, chefs, storytellers and poets.   Art in the Park is delighted to be included in the MK50 major event program – to mark the city’s anniversary. Feast of Fire: Artist Commissions for MK50 and City Club

CALLING ARTISTS FROM BEDFORDSHIRE, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE AND HERTFORDSHIRE! Feast of Fire is a magical and fiery event to celebrate Milton Keynes 50th anniversary. Taking place on Saturday 21 October from 6.30pm in Central Milton Keynes, this free event is being produced by The Stables with IF: Milton Keynes International Festival for MK50 and City Club with MK Council. Created by outdoor arts specialists Walk the Plank, the evening will include fire sculptures, a torchlit procession, Spellbound family show, live music, fireworks and pyrotechnics. Walk the Plank is inviting artists in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire to submit ideas for commissions to animate Milton Keynes’ iconic portes cochères structures on Midsummer Boulevard with fire, sound and music as part of this celebratory event.
